Perhaps Disney learned its lesson from promoting Frozen (although with $1.275 billion in worldwide box office gross perhaps “lesson” isn’t the appropriate word). Disney essentially hid the fact that there was a good chunk of singing in Frozen including songs that would become worldwide hits that would linger in our ears for months.
They’re not taking that chance with Into the Woods. Yes, in case you didn’t know, Into the Woods is based on a musical and the adaptation by director Rob Marshall is indeed also a musical.
In the wee hours of the morning (midnight on the West Coast), Disney released the latest trailer for the film which contains a significant amount of singing (especially Meryl Streep) and a grand score. I’m not a huge fan of musicals, but this looks fantastic.
Into the Woods opens in theaters December 25
