Let me preface this by saying that the only other time I watched The Usual Suspects was when it first came out. I was 14 and the only thing I remember about the movie is an extended action sequence on a cargo ship and the ending leaving me with goosebumps. I think for a while, I REALLY thought Kevin Spacey was the devil.
Of course, now, 15 years after my first viewing, I decided to take a trip down nostalgia lane and I must say I don’t remember there being so much cursing in the movie. But I actually understood what was going on and the complexities of the storyline. Back when I was 14, I didn’t know what the hell was going on and I remember the middle part of the movie being really boring. Not so this time around. I hope I have this same sort of reaction to the rest of the movies remaining in my queue. You know, able to understand the complexities of what is going on and being able to read what is happening underneath the dialouge and exposition.
So what’s tomorrow’s movie? The Rock. Hmm, so much for exposition and dialogue. At least I get to hear Connery say, “Welcome to the Rock.”
