Former AKB idol turned actress Maeda Atsuko, 27, has married actor Katsuji Ryo, 31, in an announcement by both actor’s talent agencies via ModelPress.
Maeda, who was once one of the most well-known performers in Japan during her AKB48 days left the group in 2012 to pursue a short-lived solo career and an on-going acting career.
She has starred in The Complex, The Last Shot in the Bar, and the excellent romantic drama-comedy thriller Initiation Love.
Katsuji has starred in a number of Japanese films including Battle Royale 2, The Shock Labyrinth, and voiced Descartes Shaman in Mobile Suit Gundam 00: The Movie.
Maeda and Katsuji co-star in the upcoming dramatic comedy Eating Women due out in mid-August.
