Jessica Chastain is the latest star to join the cast of the Snow White and the Huntsman spinoff for Universal. Deadline reports that Chastain will join co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, both reprising their roles from the first film.
Another actress who has been rumored to join the cast for a while now has been Emily Blunt. Blunt has reportedly finalized her deal and will join the cast.
Neither Chastain nor Blunt’s roles have been revealed.
Meanwhile, Nick Frost was previously believed to not be returning for the spinoff along with Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan has worked out a deal with Universal to reprise his role as dwarf Nion.
The Huntsman is slated to arrive in theaters in 2016. The sequel is being directed by visual effects master Cedric Nicolas-Troyan who earned an Oscar for his VFX work in the first film. This will be Nicolas-Troyan’s feature film directorial debut with the script written by Frank Darabont.
The first film grossed nearly $400 million worldwide. In case you’re wondering, no, Kristen Stewart has not been included in the cast for the sequel.
