Earlier this summer at San Diego Comic-Con, Legendary Pictures revealed that a King Kong origins movie was part of their upcoming film plans. Titled Skull Island, the film would be written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla) and recently announced that The Kings of Summer director Jordan Vogt-Roberts had signed on to helm the project.
Today, we get our first casting announcement and it’s a doozy. Tom Hiddleston has signed on to play one of the lead roles in the film and no, you’re not being Loki’d.
According to Legendary’s press release, this film will “explore the mysterious and dangerous places” on the island and will “offer a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions.”
Skull Island is set for a November 4, 2016 release.
