Since December will be Jeff Bridges Month (True Grit and TRON: Legacy debut within a week of each other), I thought it might look back on one of my favorite J.B. movies – The Big Lebowski. There’s even a thing called Lebowski Fest, though I’m sure it skew more toward bowling than seeking vengance for soiled rugs.
While Bridges is great in this movie and John Goodman is equally awesome, Sam Elliott steals this movie. For me anyway. Of course, I have a soft spot for that grumbly Southern drawl and that bushy ‘stache. I always thought it would be hilariously great if he hosted a cooking show. I’d totally watch that. And John Turturro is great as well. I must say, this a very well-cast movie!
Switching gears a bit (yes, I know that was an extremely short review, but I’ve got to watch Terror Train for work) let the countdown begin! Day 90 is tomorrow and I will enter The Matrix. What more perfect movie could I possibly be watching?! I choose the red pill. Now let’s warp into 5D hyper-reality and dash to the end!!
Don’t forget Steve Buscemi!!
I must have viewed the big lebowski approximately fifty times over the years and even absolutely adore it to this day.
It must undoubtedly be amongst the finest dvds ever released.
