Vote: Favorite Summer Movies of 2016

The summer movie season has come to an end and it’s time to look back on the blockbusters and surprise hits that entertained us in theaters. A couple of weeks ago, I posted a Best Movies of Summer 2016 list over on Ranker and you can go over to vote for your faves right now!

As of this post, The Nice Guys starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling leads the pack with the awards season contender Hell or High Water in second and the horror-thriller Don’t Breathe ranking third.

In fact, horror-thrillers are ranking really well with The Conjuring 2 in fourth, The Purge: Election Year clocking in at 7th and The Shallows ranking in at 9th.

Chris Pine is also fairing well with Star Trek: Beyond rounding out the Top Five at the moment.

Animated films are also doing well with The Secret Life of Pets at 6th, Finding Dory at 8th, and the raunchy Sausage Party rounding out the Top 10.

Superhero blockbusters seemed to be hit or miss with audiences. The Suicide Squad clocks in at 11th, X-Men: Apocalypse at 15th, and Captain America: Civil War at 18th. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which introduced villains Krang, Rocksteady, Bebop, and Baxter Stockman ranks in at 24th.

Every list has it’s anchor and sitting at the bottom right now are Alice Through the Looking Glass, Florence Foster Jenkins, Warcraft, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Seth Rogen’s other summer movie, Neighbors 2.

Didn’t see you favorite summer movie mentioned here or maybe you saw it and thought it should be rated higher? Vote over on Ranker and at the end of the year, we’ll circle back to look at where things stand.
