The final installment of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is set to arrive in theaters on November 20 and the mega-franchise kicked off the first day of panels inside the cavernous Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. Rather than run through every minute detail of what happened, here is the recap, (although the trailer won’t be available “for some time”) and some final movie teasing from the cast.
Ok, so the panel kicked off with live drummers taking the stage with moderator Conan O’Brien. The cast was introduced along with director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobsen.
Producer Nina Jacobsen says, “It’s a very, very emotional conclusion. We want to deliever for the fans.” Director Francis Lawrence adds that, “this is where Katniss gets back into action.”
The three leads (Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth) squabble a bit and Liam hints that Gale and Peeta may share a kiss. He doesn’t clarify if it is with Katniss or with each other.
Katniss pre-battle declaration speech in the new trailer: Tonight, you turn your weapons to the Capitol!”
A fan asked if things will change between the ending in the book and the ending in the movie. Francis Lawrence replied, “things change in adaptations,” but he assures the crowd that if they liked the end of the book, they’re really going to love the end of the movie.
A young fan asked Jennifer Lawrence if any character she has played had rubbed off on her. Lawrence said, “I wish! The drinking from American Hustle. Joking!” She continues, “I would hope that a little of Katniss has rubbed off on me, not that we’re similar. She’s brave and I’m… an actress.” Lawrence jokes that the words she’s saying are terrible but the sentiment in sentiment in her head is genuine.
That being said, while answering another questions, Lawrence said she didn’t quite relate to Katniss at the beginning but, as time went on she really started to feel like she was a real person.
EDIT: A new promo teaser has been released online. It’s not the new trailer, but it will have to suffice for now. I’ll add the new trailer once it becomes available.
