Go Behind the Scenes of Disney’s Sci-Fi Movie ‘A Wrinkle in Time’

Disney Studios has released a behind the scenes look at their upcoming film A Wrinkle in Time starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Zach Galifianakis, and Chris Pine.

From Disney Studios:

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

DuVernay says that the goal for her with this movie was to, “create something visually stunning. Something that reverberates within you when you see it. Something that sticks to your ribs.”

DuVernay directed and produced the critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated movie Selma released in 2014. She is also the first black female director to helm a movie with a budget of $100 million.

She has expressed in a previous interview that she is concerned that mainstream audiences may not connect with the movie.

“I love it, but I don’t know how it’s going to be received. I feel something very deep in my gut when Oprah’s voice says, ‘There’s a darkness in the world, and the only one who can stop it is…’ smash cut to a black girl. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know if people are going to feel like that,” DuVernay told Vulture.

A Wrinkle In Time arrives in theaters on March 9.

More info about the film can be found on its official website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
