FOX has begun it’s marketing for their sequel to the 2014 smash hit Kingsman: The Secret Service with a cryptic poster. While Kingsman: The Golden Circle isn’t due out until June 2017 and no formal plot has been announced, the text on the first poster hints at a possible return of a character from the first film.
Without spoiling it for those who haven’t seen the film, the chief villains in the first film were played by Samuel L. Jackson and Sofia Boutella. Given how tech-saavy Jackson’s character was in the first film, it is completely reasonable to think that he would resurface in the sequel.
While Jackson’s name hasn’t officially appeared on the casting list, we do know that Julianne Moore has signed on to play the lead villain in the role. One might guess then that she will be continuing to carry out Valentine’s plan.
Colin Firth, who so brilliantly played Harry Hart in the first film may not be in the sequel, though returning director Matthew Vaughn has said that he would try to figure out a way to work Firth into the sequel. The poster could be hinting at Firth’s return.
Halle Berry has also been rumored for a role in the sequel as well, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle arrives in theaters June 16, 2017.
