Yesterday, the internets lit up with the hope that hoverboards had finally become a reality. Out of the blue, this viral video surfaced featuring Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown from Back to the Future) and a number of celebrity guests including Tony Hawk, Terrell Owens, Moby and more.

While many of us wanted to believe that it was the real thing, alas our hopes were once again crushed. Today brought about a number of videos that fessed up that the viral video was indeed a stunt.

First up was an apology from Tony Hawk:

The man at the center of it all, Christopher Lloyd took to FunnyorDie to offer up his own apology as well as give one lucky fan a chance to win an autographed hover board. Watch that video here.
