Morning Roundup: Wonder Woman, ‘The Nut Job 2’ and Grace Kelly Pic Gets Bumped… Again

Here’s a quick round-up of all the major movie news going on this morning.

Gadot

— It’s good to be Gal Gadot. Variety reports that the recently cast Wonder Woman will appear in three films as the Amazon Princess. In addition to her appearance in Zack Snyder’s Batman/Superman movie, Gadot will “play a role in a Justice League movie and a Wonder Woman standalone film.” There are no release dates set for those two films and Batman/Superman was recently delayed to May 6, 2016. nutjob— Get ready to go nuts again. The Nut Job’s $25.7 million opening weekend was enough to green light a sequel that will arrive in theaters January 15, 2016. Open Road Films is banking on a combination of the international movie market and a lack of family films to further boost The Nut Job’s total box office.

garrett

— Remember Garrett Hedlund? The guy who had a brief moment in the limelight when Tron: Legacy hit theaters back in 2010. He recently popped back on the grid this year with a couple of indie films – On the Road and Inside Llewyn Davis and has a number of projects lined up in the coming years. One of those will be the role of Hook in director Joe Wright’s live-action version of the classic Peter Pan tale. Pan will arrive in theaters July 17, 2015.

— CBS will air a new preview clip for Disney’s Maleficent during the Grammys this Sunday. Today, we got a teaser that basically reveals nothing. You can watch it below though if you’re curious.

— The SAG Awards are moving back to Sunday in 2015. The actors’ guild announced today that the 2015 SAG Awards will take place January 25, 2015 and broadcast on TBS and TNT.

Nicole Kidman in Grace of Monaco

— When will The Weinstein Company’s Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco arrive in theaters? After being bumped out of the awards race to a March 14 release date, the film has once again been delayed. The current status is TBD which suggest The Weinsteins could be positioning the film for a 2014 awards push. Nicole Kidman stars as Kelly with Tim Roth as her husband Prince Rainier III.
