Chris Pine To Play Wonder Woman’s Love Interest In Solo Film

ChrisPineNormally I steer away from casting news because, honestly, who cares right? But with a massive cinematic universe on the verge of being born, I’m willing to make this exception.

The Wrap reports that Chris Pine, who had entered into talks with Warner Bros. several months ago, has officially signed on to play Wonder Woman Gal Gadot’s love interest, Steve Trevor in the upcoming DC/Warner Bros. solo film.

In the DC Comics realm, Trevor was an army intelligence officer during World War II whose plane was shot down. He was nursed back to health thanks to Princess Diana and the two fell in love. The character debuted at the same time as the heroine in All Star Comics issue eight, published in December 1941.

The film, directed by Patty Jenkins, will see Steve be much more active than he is in the comics. Expect Pine to appear in a few other DC movies down the road as it is likely his deal was a multi-picture contract.

Wonder Woman arrives in theaters June 23, 2017.
